How to use wool detergent correctly

Wool is a great material that keeps you warm and comfortable. However, to maintain its quality and extend the life of your wool products, it is important to wash them correctly. By using the right wool detergent, you can ensure that your woolen clothes stay soft and without damage. Here is a guide on how to best care for your woolen items.

Choose the right wool detergent

First, choose a gentle detergent specifically designed for wool. Ordinary detergents may contain enzymes that break down the wool fibres.

Our wool detergent is suitable for both wool and cashmere and has a wonderful scent of lavender and patchouli. The wool detergent is made from natural and organic ingredients and contains lanolin, which protects the fibers in the clothes.

How to use wool detergent correctly

Read and follow the washing instructions

Before washing, you should always check the washing instructions on the clothes. Always make sure to read and follow instructions carefully so that your woolen clothes retain their quality and shape. Our wool detergent is made for both white and colored clothes and can be used for washing from 20 to 90 degrees.

Use the right amount of detergent

More is not always better. Follow the dosage recommendations on the bottle. Overdosing can lead to residues in the fibres, which makes the wool stiff and can irritate the skin.

Choose the gentle program

Modern washing machines often have a wool or gentle washing program. These programs use lower temperatures and gentler tumbling. Using the correct cycle protects the fibers in your woolen clothes.

Avoid high temperatures

Wool can easily shrink in heat. Always wash wool at a low temperature, typically around 30 degrees, unless the label states otherwise. Hand washing is also a good option for extra delicate pieces.

Never tumble dry

Tumbling is the worst enemy of woolen clothes. Let the garment dry flat on a towel, making sure it lies correctly in its natural shape. In this way, you avoid shrinkage and deformation.

Storage of wool

When it comes to storing wool, make sure it is completely dry. Moisture can lead to mold and bad odors. Fold clothes neatly and store them on a shelf or in a drawer, not on hangers as they can stretch the fabric.

By following these simple steps, you can keep your woolen clothes looking good and functioning well for many years to come. Do you want to learn more about how best to care for different materials? Sign up for our newsletter for more advice and tips!
